The Corbett Project

The Corbett Project was set up in Spring 2020 by myself and fellow South-East London photographer Sophie Burrows, as a response to the Coronavirus Lockdown, and as a way of bringing the community together (albeit from a distance). We wanted to capture and record this unique time for us all, and to celebrate who we are, both as individuals, and as a community.

Over the course of three months we photographed over one hundred households, as well as a handful of local businesses, across the Corbett Estate and surrounding streets in Catford.

It was entirely free for people to take part but, for anyone wanting, and in a position, to make a donation, we set up a justgiving page, raising money for Lewisham NHS. Click here for the link.

In Autumn 2020 we were awarded funding by Lewisham Local to expand on the project and continue working with the community. To build on the legacy of the project, and utilise our skills as photographers and educators, we created a series of photography packs and videos, each of which included pro tips and technical guidance, as well as an exciting Photography Challenge.

The following year we were awarded further funding, from Lewisham Council and SHAPESLewisham, as part of a series of commissions designed to re-animate the High Street, with Lewisham having been crowned the London Borough of Culture 2022. In January 2022 we held an exhibition of The Corbett Project at cARTon Gallery, SE6, and hosted an exclusive, online launch event.
